Using GA-BP Neural Network for Sticking Breakout Prediction in Continuous Slab Casting
Breakout is a hazardous accident in continuous casting process. Losses caused by a typical breakout accident can be as high as hundreds of thousands of dollars. Breakout prediction technique is playing an important role in reducing the occurrence of breakout events. Back propagation (BP) neural network based forecast method as an important breakout prediction technique which can be applied in c...
متن کاملContinuous slab caster scheduling and interval graphs
We define and solve a scheduling problem for operating the continuous steel slab caster which converts molten steel into slabs. The nature of our problem has an interesting connection to a special class of graphs known as interval graphs. We show that our problem can be seen as a variant of the clique partitioning problem defined on interval graphs and develop an optimal algorithm for it.
متن کاملDevelopment of a Model for Transient Simulation and Control of a Continuous Steel Slab Caster
A two-dimensional heat transfer model for transient simulation and control of a continuous steel slab caster is described. Slab thermal and solidification conditions are computed by the model as a function of time-varying casting speed, secondary spray cooling water flow rates and temperature, slab thickness, steel chemistry, and pouring and ambient temperatures. A solidification model that inc...
متن کاملMicrostructure Formation in Thin Slab Casting
New processes have been developed in the last years to produce near net shape steel products by continuous casting. This work deals with the analysis of the effects of liquid core reduction during the solidification in the microstructure of thin slabs obtained by continuous cast process. An equipment able to simulate the liquid core reduction during the solidification was projected and construc...
متن کاملSimulation of Argon Gas Flow Effects in a Continuous Slab Caster
Three-dimensional finite-volume-based numerical models of fluid, heat, and mass transport have been developed and applied to help explain the complex inter-related phenomena of multiphase fluid flow, superheat dissipation, and grade intermixing during the continuous casting of steel slabs. Gas bubbles are simulated using a continuum model, which calculates the volume fraction and velocities of ...
